Overview
Director and PSC Identity Verification, Done Right First Time
Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, everyone who sets up, runs or controls a UK company must verify their identity with Companies House. Since 18 November 2025 new directors and people with significant control (PSCs) must be verified, and existing directors must verify by the time their company files its next confirmation statement. Verification gives each person a Companies House personal code, which is then used whenever they are appointed or a filing needs to show they are verified. Countify helps Glasgow directors and PSCs understand what they need to do, by when, and makes sure the company's confirmation statement and appointments are filed correctly once everyone is verified.
Primary sources: Companies House (Companies House) and Running a limited company (GOV.UK).

What you get
Keep your company's filings moving
Identity verification is a one-off step for each person, but missing it has knock-on effects for the company: a confirmation statement cannot be completed until directors have verified, and new appointments need a verified person behind them. For a small Glasgow company with one or two directors this is usually quick, but it is easy to leave until the filing is due. We check who in your company needs to verify, explain the routes available — verifying directly through GOV.UK One Login, or through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider — collect personal codes, and file the confirmation statement and any appointment changes so nothing is held up.

Who has to verify their identity with Companies House?
Company directors (and equivalents such as LLP members) and people with significant control. Anyone filing on a company's behalf also has to be verified or file through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider.
When do existing directors have to verify?
Existing directors must verify by the time their company files its next confirmation statement after 18 November 2025. New directors must be verified when they are appointed. Check GOV.UK for the current dates that apply to your company.
What is a Companies House personal code?
A unique code you receive once your identity is verified. It is used to link your verified identity to the companies you are involved in, for example when you are appointed as a director or when a confirmation statement is filed.
How do I verify my identity?
Most people verify online through GOV.UK One Login using photo ID such as a passport or driving licence. You can also verify through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider, such as an accountancy firm registered with Companies House.
What happens if a director doesn't verify?
The company may be unable to file its confirmation statement, and an unverified director is committing an offence. It is far simpler to verify ahead of the filing date than to sort it out afterwards.
